----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE NOTE!!!!: The ATCIBBS program included is in the VERY
early stages of development. I have included for those who
may wish to attempt to use it. It is currently undergoing
testing at this time. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!
This program, ATCIBBS.EXE, allows you to play SKY COP
with other bbs's. It sends the scores of all systems playing
in your leaque to the league coordinator, then combines the
scores, which are then re-distributed to all systems.
You may function either as a NODE, a HUB, or the League Coordinator.
The desciption of each follows.
If you can not find a league local to you, and wish to join one,
Mace Software operates a SKY COP league. To join, send a
request to Gary Mace at any of the addresses listed above.
ATCIBBS uses any FidoNet style network. It creates the *.msg files
in your net directory which will need to be converted by your mailer.
ATCIBBS is a free addon to the SKY COP door game. You must be
running SKY COP v1.1 or later. Since this is a free add-on,
there is no warranty provided. As you've heard before...it works
here!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEAGUE COORDINATOR:
This is the person who is the main hub of the league. This system
is where all the scores are combined, then redistributed to
his nodes, and hubs. There can be only ONE coordinator per league.
^^^
To become a League Coordinator and start a new league, you would:
1. Run ATCIBBS SETUP
You will have to assign yourself Game ID: SKYCOP001
Note: All ID's start with SKYCOP, and end with 3 digits.
2. Run ATCIBBS SETUPHUB
Here you enter the information on all systems that will
call you. DO NOT include systems that call one of your
hubs. Thats their job.
3. Nightly:
run ATCIBBS OUTBOUND
run ATCIBBS INBOUND
Thats it! Now wasn't that easy.... :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HUBS:
This is a system that has other system that call them. There can be
any number of hubs in a league. As a hub, you will have to assign
the ID number (ex SKYCOP012 ) to each system under you. You can
assign them anything except 001 and your assigned ID.
To become a HUB, you would:
1. Contact the league coordinator, and request an ID number.
Note: All ID's start with SKYCOP, and end with 3 digits.
2. Run ATCIBBS SETUP
3. Run ATCIBBS SETUPHUB
Here you enter the information on all systems that will
call you.
4. Nightly:
run ATCIBBS OUTBOUND
poll YOUR hub
run ATCIBBS INBOUND
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
NODES:
This is a system that is the league, but does not have any systems
under them.
To become a NODE, you would:
1. Contact the league coordinator, or any HUB and request
an ID number.
Note: All ID's start with SKYCOP, and end with 3 digits.
If you can't find a hub that is a local call, you would
best to use the league coordinator. This will provide the
fastest turn around of scores.
2. Run ATCIBBS SETUP
3. Nightly:
run ATCIBBS OUTBOUND
poll YOUR hub
run ATCIBBS INBOUND
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTES:
All systems in the league must have configured the same number of plays
per day as the league coordinator. If not, your packet will be ignored
and scores from your system will not be added.
Hall of Fame scores are processed on the third day of the month by the
league coordinator. This should allow ample time for all systems to
get the score files in on time.
This utility uses Kill-File-Sent (KFS) flags in the message headers that
accompany the attached data files. This flag instructs the mailer to delete
the file after it is sent. There are some mailer that apparantly DO NOT
honor these flags. To work around this, you MUST select No for the set-up
question about KFS flags. If you are not sure about this, select Yes, but
then do the following. This example assumes you are node id SKYCOP002.
Run ATCIBBS BOTH. You see that a file named SKYCOP??.002 was created in the
main game directory. Where ?? = a number from 1 to 99. Now poll your hub.
If the file is gone, then you are OK. If it's still there, then your mailer
is not deleting the files, and you must choose No for the SETUP KFS
question.
That should about do it. ATCIBBS creates several files in your games
directory. Do not delete !!ANYTHING!! you are not sure what it does.
On hub and leaque coordinator systems, it will also create a subdirectory
\IBBS.
Any questions, drop me a line.
